I'm 47 & just had my 5th child

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Sunday, April 19, 2009 | 0 comments

Maybe it'll help to know that I'm 47 and just had my fifth child last month (my sixth pregnancy).

Except for having gestational diabetes, and not a bad case of it at that, my pregnancy was AWESOME and my beautiful baby boy was born on his due date weighing in at 9 lbs. 2.2 oz and was 21 1/2 in. long.

By the way, as stated in the beginning, I've been pregnant six times, with five live births. I, too, miscarried at 6 weeks in my second pregnancy...and I was in my 20's at the time. So, yes, it's quite possible to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby later on!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
