45y just got pregnant

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Thursday, May 21, 2009 | 0 comments

When I met with Dr Check, he mentioned a recent 45 year old who just got pregnant, because they finally discovered something.

I’m seeing him now, and I’m 44 one of his older patients When I started with him in May I was labelled as "No hormonal problems" but after working with him, we are finding out that there are some underlying hormonal problems that we only discovered from close monitoring.

It’s not only high FSH [follicle stimulating hormone] that could be the problem. He's great because he really looks into what could be preventing pregnancy other than age, when a lot of RE's [reproductive endocrinologist] just slap a label on you, and consider your TTC [trying to conceive] efforts done.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
