My first child at 44

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Monday, May 25, 2009 | 0 comments

My husband is 10 years younger than me, and I think it probably helps!!! I delivered a healthy baby boy on June 7, 2006 - my first child, second pregnancy.

I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks in January 2005, and got pregnant with my little guy about 6 months later.

I will be 45 in October. We are TTC [trying to conceive] #2 right away. The stakes seem less high this time, but we really would like another so what the heck...? I had a great pregnancy and natural delivery.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
