Born to her mother at 54

Q: I am very interested in filling out the quiver some more, and wonder, with your experience, how many other women my age (now am 45) are able to have babies. And just what are the chances? I would think that having had my last two babies in my 40's, my chances would be good.

A: You’re not such an old lady at 45. As I have told another list subscriber, I grew up with a girl who was born to her mother at the mother’s age of 54, when the mom had not been cycling for a couple years or so.

I’ve been reading about this for another woman, also desiring more in the quiver, and have found that the very best thing to try would be vitex agnus-castus, taken 1-2 capsules every morning during the whole cycle. The normalizing effect on the hormones tends to increase fertility quite naturally.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
