I am suddenly pregnant at 45

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Wednesday, May 26, 2010 | 0 comments

I am also 45 years old (will be 46 in May) and I underwent an unsuccessful IVF in September of 04 - my 5 embryos did not make it to blast.

Now it's 5 months later, and I am suddenly pregnant! (natural conception, 4 1/2 weeks at this point). I am wondering if an unsuccessful IVF increases the odds of a natural pregnancy in the ensuing months.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
