Grandmother had her last child at 45

My grandmother had her last child at 45 - in the 1940's. My uncle, who was that last child, complained for years that he had an "old" mother.
But he was also the pampered family baby: the only one out of 6 who went to private school and had his college paid for. AND my grandmother lived to see him marry and have children of his own.
There are ups and downs with any parents. Age is just one factor out of many.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
