I had my last boy at 44

Image: Enjoying the cake, by James Emery (hoyasmeg), on FlickrI had my last boy who is now 9 years old, when I was 44 years old.

There was a 12 and 17 year gap between my other children.

Total shock - I had just started a new job, and had all the tests.

I worked until two days before he was due.

My blood pressure stayed static the whole time and apart from putting on mega weight... I blossomed!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
