Baby at 45 after 4 years

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Monday, August 08, 2011 | 2 comments

I was at a children's museum yesterday and there where twin girls playing next to us and the nanny told me that the couple had tried for 17 years to have a baby and they got pregnant at age 46 and that the pregnancy was natural.

I was at the museum with a 43 year old friend who tried for 11 years before she had a baby and we were waiting for my 47 year old friend who had a baby at 45 after 4 years (I tried for 3!)

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

That is inspiring. We are trying for #2 at 46. Naturally. Did try fertility drugs with no luck. We have had 5 miscarriages since our daughter was born 4 years ago.
