Question: Can you get pregnant after you go through Menopause?
Answer: Once you have gone a FULL year - 12 months of not having periods you are through Menopause. Then, you are no longer able to get pregnant "naturally". However, this can take several years before you get to this point. Even if you skip 6 months... have a light period, and skip another 6 months... you are still considered peri-menopause.
During this time - you CAN get pregnant! And believe me... lots of women do! My grandmother had a baby at age 49 due to this misconception (pardon the pun). Also, you can get pregnant past menopause via IVF [in vitro fertilization] with medical assistance.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
