Only one son, born when I was 47

Child in the street. Stock Photo credit: brittahaalI had a positive natural birth experience, for which I am very grateful. I only have one son, which I got when I was 47.

He was two weeks late, when I got worried and asked the doctor to get him out, because I read somewhere that if you are older, after 40 weeks the placenta is going down faster then compared to younger ones.

However, when I had made an appointment for the next morning, my son suddenly was born in the night before.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
